BDay Week (Week 23)

Hello friends,

How is everyone doing? This week was pretty good. Not much going on and nothing really exciting but it was good.

This week i have one story but it is a good one and then i have lots of pictures. So tuesday I woke up and sang happy birthday to myself and thought i wanted to treat myself in some way. Well if i had money i would buy a big breakfast or something but we are poor so i had to be creative. So right before i got in the bathroom to take my freezing cold bucket shower revelation hit me... "Elder Sackley.... boil water." Wow. So i went into the kitchen and found our biggest pot and filled it with water. Set it on the stove and turned the stove on to high. And not to long after i was taking my first warm shower in almost 5 months. May i tell you how amazing it was? I never know how amazing warm showers were until i went 5 months without them. Needless to say every morning now i boil water and take warm showers. It is truly life saving.

Hope you are all enjoying cold weather because i am too. It is constantly 25 degrees in the morning and I wake up teeth chattering so woohoo.

Love you all
Elder gsack

Welp (Week 22)

My week in one sentence:

Our goal this week was 4 baptisms and 4 confirmations, we had 3 baptisms and 0 confirmations.

So this week was rough but lots of good experiences. The mother and two daughters of the rebojo family got baptized and the father will be baptized in the coming weeks. Then the 3 will be confirmed in church this week hopefully.

but on a more happy note here are some good experiences from the week:

1. We were waiting for a ward missionary at the basketball court and were watching the kids playing and i realized one of them wasnt talking at all. and I thought it was kind of odd and then something caught my attention. He started signing to another boy on the sidelines so i went other to his friend and talked to him and he said his friend was deaf and he was the only other person that knew sign language. Well luckily elder sackley took it for 2 years and some how still remembers some. So i signed with the deaf kid a little bit and all though it was ugly i was able to get my point across and give him a pamphlet. He was so happy and told us he was going to read it so that was awesome.

2. Second we had a refferal about a month ago. Her name was Jane and she was super receptive. The first lesson she cried and was very interested in the gospel. Well the next day we got a text saying she didnt want to meet with us anymore. So that was really disappointing but i have always thought she truly felt something so I have continually prayed for her the last couple of weeks that she would accept another lesson. Well prayers are answered. This afternoon we got a text from a member saying Jane has been reading the Book of Mormon all this time and wants to hear another lesson so we have an appointment with her Saturday Night! Woohoo!

hope you are all doing well! love you lots

elder gsack

Week 21

What is up my people, How are all of you doing? I miss you all lots. this letter has 3 parts to it, the new year, Rebojo family and Thomas S Monson.

1. The New Year. More like the old year. As a tribute to 2017 i made a top 9 of the year. i couldnt think of a 10th lol.
         1. Winning Rugby State Championship
         2. Graduating High School. All of my family can testify i didnt think i was going to make it lol
         3. Going through the temple and receiving the Preisthood
         4. Receiving my mission call and starting my mission
         5. Discovering Clash Royale
         6. Working at Chemdry and more specifically driving those huge vans
         7. Going to Hawaii for family vacation
         8. Going to Bend for the day and going to my very first Concert
         9. Finding, Teaching, Converting and baptizing someone

2. The Rebojo family is getting baptized this Saturday! All of them passed their interviews with flying colors so they are all getting baptized! We are so very exciting and they are truly the perfect golden family of investigators. So Happy.

3. Yesterday we got a text saying President Thomas S Monson passed away. It was a very sad moment but after thinking about it for a while it made me happy. I like to see death as someone "graduating" life. I see it as an accomplishment. And my goodness I gurantee they had a huge welcome party for him. Its so comforting having knowledge of the Plan of Salvation and knowing he may be gone phsically but their will come a time where we will all be together again. However I will surely miss him.

Lastly love you all, Hope you have an amazing year of 2018!

Love
 Elder gsack

Weekly Christmas (Week 19)

Hello!

This week has been madness. Saturday I absolutely fried my hand deep frying oreos and i have 3rd degree burns all over my right hand. and I have lost all feeling on the backside of my right thumb because of it. but its all good because the oreos were delicious. Then Monday was transfers and i got a new companion. His name is Elder Cristoria. He is philippino. So now my house is 3 philippinos and then me. And all three of them barely know english so it is quite hard to communicate but its all good.

Day 25: Jesus is the Light of the World, but every person can shine his or her own light into the world. Follow Christ’s example and be a light in the lives of those around you this Christmas season and all year long.

So often we teach investigators, Recent converts, less actives and truly any member about enduring to the end. how the first 4 steps of the gospel (faith, repentance, baptism and holy ghost) are completely pointless if you do not endure to the end. Why would you go so far only to quit. This 25 days 25 ways thing the church puts on is very great. Its an amazing way to share the gospel, become closer the family members and simply become a better person. but the key is you continue it throughout the year. We arent meant to be good people one month of the year and then go back to not caring. So this christmas season and upcoming year of 2018 I challenge you all to find random acts of service daily. Help someone pick up there things, pay for the person behind you in the drive through or just simply smile at someone. Dont go so far only to quit and go back to your old ways. Continue to strive to be a better person and I promise Heavenly Father will bless you individual and all those around you.

I love you all lots and wish you all a very merry christmas and happy new year!

Dogs (Week 18)

Hello!

This week was great full of funny, spiritual, memory making times.

1. Liahona Dela Cruz was baptized! It was an awesome experience. She is 9 and is just the perfect little girl. Most of our lessons were spent quizing her on math problems because she loves math but she is awesome. When I baptized her she like jumped backwards and I almost like slammed her. It kind of looked bad but it was funny. But overall it was a very spiritual experience.

2. this sunday was the primary program and my goodness it was nuts. Kids just running around and screaming and for some reasons almost every child had a solo. so sacrament meeting was an hour and 45 minutes of absolute madness but it was way funny to watch,

3. We saw some weird dog things this week. First we were on our way home from church and saw a dog walking and it looked kind of weird and when we passed it its leg was broken. SO every time it stepped its leg folded and it was just nasty and a scarring sight. Then the other day we were walking down this dirt road and i noticed something looked a little weird and there was  ton of flies around it so we wernt and looked at it and it was just a dead dog in a body bag some people had just left on a dirt road. it was so nasty.

4. The crazy chicken. Everytime we go to this recent converts house we have to walk by this big male chicken. And everytime is runs at us for like 5 feet and then stops. but its always scary. yesterday we were walking by it and it started running at us but it didnt stop. ELder tanner and I just took off running and screaming and laughing and we thought aften 20ish feet it would stop but we look back and it was right behind us. Just imagine two america joes running past your house with a chicken cahasing them. It was quite funny and after it stopped we just stood and laughed for a while. but needless to say we will be taking a different route next time.

Shout out to Grandpa Sackley. His birthday this Sunday!

Love you all lots!

trip to the hospital, funeral, two christmas parties and a baptism (week 17)

Hello,

Yes everything in the subject line did happen. For reals its been a madness week with tons going on and the madness continues the next couple days. But my letter i want to focus on the baptism.

Saturday Ann got baptised! Woohoo! It was such a great experience. Standing in the font she was so scared. I just had a big ol smile on my face because she was making this choice. When she came down into the font I quickly explained how it was going to work and how to hold my wrist. She grabbed my wrist so tight my goodness it was almost to the point of hurting me. She was shaking and all but the spirit was oh so strong it was tangiable. And next thing you know Ann was baptised! I didnt mess up or anything so that is good, didnt have to repeat it or anything. But this was such a happy moment. She came out of the water with a huge smile. Through teaching ann the last weeks and seeing her following the Word of Wisdom and then fasting before her baptism and truly choicing to follow Jesus Christ... woohoo it was just so sweet.

Now negative, Elder Tanner and I are getting punted like none other. Like we are getting absolutely shot down day after day. Normally we get in 6 or 7 lessons in one day and this week so far we have had 5 lessons. We are just getting shut down and even set appointments we travel and walk to them and as soon as we get there they cancel on us. so its been super hard but we are still laughing and having a grand ol time so its good. But clearly we are being tested and it is difficult but We are in the philippines so there is no such thing as negative.

I have tons of photos to send so I will get on that. love you all lots!
