Week 48

Hello,

I am super busy and no time but I will leave you as much as i can. I have been transferred! It was really sad leaving everyone in GMA but I am excited for this new chapter in my mission. I am now in  DasmariƱas 2nd ward. I am companions with Elder Toldanes and we are the zone leaders here! It is super exciting. THis is the biggest zone in the mission in terms of land area and companionship.

Caintic Family was baptized last saturday! Hands down one of the coolest baptisms i have experienced. It was such an amazing feeling being able to baptize and watch them be baptized. So happy for them. THey were first reffered to missionaries back in 2014 and now after 4 years and lots of missionaries they were finally baptized!

I have lots of pics to attach so I will count that as my letter. Love you all lots

Week 47

Hello,

This was a really good week and lots has continued to be going on. Here are some highlights...

I got to interview another investigator last sunday for baptism. It was hands down the craziest bapitsmal interview i have ever done. Every answer she gave me had a scripture reference. She has already read the book of mormon 4 times and it was incredible of how much she absorbed.

Also the whole Caintic family passed their baptismal interviews this past weekend with flying colors so the Jennifer (mom), Judith, Joel and Jihro will all be baptized this coming saturday. We are SUPER excited for them. They started investigating the church back in 2014 and now they are finally being baptized. SO exciting.

Also Susi and Shine are doing super well. They came to church this past Sunday and had a really good experience. Its so amazing watching their progression and we are super excited for their baptism coming up.

Also the other night we were at a dinner appointment and I was sitting next to a 4 year old girl. Here nickname is "Bobs" and shes super funny. Ill attach a picture but we were sitting eating and she leans over to me and says she has something to say. SO she whispers in my ear "Elder sackley eat the rest of my food I cant do it" and i responded "Bobs what why?" and she looks at me and say "I need to poop" and I dont think i have ever laughed so hard. It was so funny. The rest of the table was so confused because no one else heard but it was so good.

Also this coming week is my last week in my area. District leader was lots of fun and I have loved San Gabriel ward but Zone Leader is just calling my name ;)

Love you all lots! I dont know what time ill be on next week but ill write :)

Week 46

Hello,

This week lots has happened and I dont have lots of time to tell it all but I will do my best. First of all The CAINTIC FAMILY FINALLY IS GETTING BAPTIZED!! WOOHOO!! I have taught this family lessons 1-5 completely three times and now finally they are being baptized. SO we are super excited for them. Their baptism is this coming July 14th (Right before transfer day;)) So more happiness to come with them.

Also I had the opportunity to do another baptism interview this past sunday and I really enjoy it. It is such a spiritual experience and something I really do love.

Lastly, Shine and Susi. We are continually teaching them and they are just getting better and better. Last sunday they came to church and were absolutely fascinated about all the rooms and just everything. It was a super good experience for them. On tuesday when we taught them they opened up to us about their life and how ever since we started teaching them there has been something new in their life. They werent sure exactly what is was but they told us how as a family they are way more happy now and how they get along a lot more. It was such a sweet chance to testify to them that we knew it was from the gospel.

Also for reasons i can not say I am writing a letter to the Prophet and It is the most stressful thing in the world. Knowing that President Russel M Nelson himself is going to read it makes me want to write every word perfectly and have my grammar flawless. I guess Ms Brownell making me write a perfect paper was worth my time :)

Anyways love you all lots. Send me random questions you have and I will be happy to answer them :)

Love you all,

Elder gsack

Week 45

Hello,

THis week has not been as exciting as the last but I would like to continue the story from last week. So we set a return appointment with Susi and her family to try and teach them. Well of course the time came and we went to go and teach them. We were able to teach Susi, her two daughters and her niece. They were super nice and friendly and very very thankful for what we had down. We Sat down and taught them a super powerful lesson one. The spirit was very strong and we focused a lot on how families can be together forever. They opened up to us on how their family has a lot of struggles and trials and how they really believed that our message could help them in their family lifes. They understood everything and were super excited to come to church the following day (which they did). So they are now progressing towards their baptismal date on July 28. Its oh so amazing how you find some of the people you teach ;)

Thats really all. Nothing exciting happened this week. Ill try to get a happier letter next week. Also next week going to Tagaytay so i dont know what time I am going to email.

Love you all lots

Week 44

Welp,

Last friday we had a super busy day. we had lots of appointments and tons of people to teach. Well we were coming down to the last couple appointments and we had the feeling we needed to go to the Leddas house. They are a member in the ward and Sister Ledda works for the neighborhood. So we went over to their house and sat down and started chatting. About 5 minutes in to talking we heard screaming at the front door and we saw a lady crying and screaming for help. All i picked up out of the screaming was "Susi fell off the cliff to the river." So elder ugalino got up and ran to where the lady told us this happened. Well we get there and there was a ton of people at the top but only one person at the bottom of the cliff trying to save susi. So elder ugalino and i immediately take off down the cliff. it is probably twice the size of the hill behind albertsons and just straight mud. So its a super long hill. well we finally get to the bottom and susi is at the bottom twisted and turned stuck in a huge thing of bamboo that luckily stopped her from going off a good 60 foot drop. When i finally get to Susi we realize she is drunk and now passed out. After a good 20 minutes of cutting and pulling bamboo susi was free and we could start the climb back up. Now at this point it has started to rain. The hill is super steep and just mud and not trying to be mean but susi is not a small women. So after 30 minutes of slipping and sliding, yanking and pulling and dragging, Susi is at the top of the hill. Now we met susi's 18 year old daughter who told us what happened and the whole situation. But due to my mother i will not specify the details at this time. However we carrying susi back to her house and lay her down in the kitchen and at this point she is still passed out drunk. Now i thought okay she is okay now and she is just going to sleep it off (I was wrong). So i went outside to wash off because at this point i was just covered in mud. And right before i started to wash my hands i heard screaming, so i ran back inside the house and susi was on the ground having seizures while her 18 year old daughter, 10 year old son and 6 year old daughter are screaming and crying. I dont know how i knew this or how i remembered it but for some reason i knew susi needed to stay on her side so if she threw up she wouldnt choke and die. SO ELDER SACKLEY (Because everyone else is either crying or cant take seeing that stuff which i cant take this kind of stuff either) is the one who has to hold susi on her side while she has seizures and throws up. There was countless times i had to check her pulse to make sure she still had one. Needless to say I have never been so afraid in my entire life and said so many prayers in such a short amount of time. However while i was dealing with all of this the member called 911 and an emergency team was able to come and help. So when i left the situation susi was on a strecther being put in an ambulance. Now 6 days later i now she is at home and recovering but i havent been able to visit her yet. I think later today :)

On a more happy note I got to do 2 baptismal interviews this past sunday which were both super spiritual events. Its so amazing being able to interview people who have prepared to be baptized.

Hope you are all doing well. Love you all lots

Elder Gsack

ps. If you are going to be a disobedient missionary and go to the computer shop on a non pday to watch movies, I would suggest dont go to a computer shop in your district leaders area ;)

Week 43

Hello,

THis week has been pretty good. The biggest down part is the (I dont know what the word is in english) Baguio Domeng is here. Its just a huge storm that is constant rain thunder and lightning and truly puts a down in our work. The thunder is so incredibly loud here like it sounds like gun shouts constantly going off and as i am typing this right now its going off.

However this week we had a really cool experience with a part member family. The member in the family is a 22 year old female. She is really cool and has asked us several times to try and come teach her family. Well whenever we would go they would be "busy" or not home. However because of the rain and being punted several times we were forced over by here house and thought we would give it a shot. When we went over there we saw that the whole family was home and we knew this was our shot. They said they didnt have a lot of time so we decided to do PSP (Pray, sing, pray). Its a thing our mission does i dont know if anyone else does it. But we were able to sing Families can be together forever and relate it straight into lesson one. The spirit was very strong and you could tell their hearts were touched. We asked Jenny to give a testimony at the end of it and she broke down into tears saying how happy she was that her family was listening to the missionaries now and shared a really powerful testimony about how through the gospel families can truly be together forever. It was awesome!

Being district leader is lots of fun. The Zone Leaders are in my district too so i get to interact with them lots!

Love you all!
